At the outset of the Chinese New Year, Shanghai Electric has secured five major project contracts across domestic and international markets, spanning Zhejiang, Fujian, the United Kingdom, Zimbabwe, and Indonesia. The projects cover ultra-supercritical coal-fired power generation, cogeneration (CHP), grid-scale energy storage, and advanced environmental protection equipment, underscoring the company’s comprehensive capabilities and global strategic positioning in the energy equipment sector.
Zheneng Changxing Power Plant 2×1000MW Relocation Project
As a key energy security project under Zhejiang Province’s 14th Five-Year Plan, the Changxing Power Plant relocation project will construct two 1,000 MW ultra-supercritical, single-reheat coal-fired generating units. Shanghai Electric will supply the steam turbines, generators, and boilers for the project.
Upon completion, the plant is expected to generate over 10 billion kWh of electricity annually, significantly enhancing regional power supply security, optimizing the energy mix, and improving environmental performance in surrounding urban areas. The project will promote coordinated economic development and ecological sustainability in the region.
Dongqiao Thermal Power Phase II Cogeneration Project (2×650MW)
Located in the Quanhui Petrochemical Industrial Park in Hui’an County, Quanzhou, Fujian Province, this project is included in Fujian’s 14th Five-Year Energy Development Plan. Shanghai Electric will provide boilers, high-voltage motors, and integrated denitrification (DeNOx) systems.
Designed with deep peak-shaving capability, low-nitrogen emissions, flexible temperature control, and high operational stability, the project will become the largest combined heat and power (CHP) base in Fujian upon completion. It will fully meet the growing thermal demand of the industrial park, strengthen grid support in northern Quanzhou, and contribute to the development of a national-level port-based petrochemical industrial hub, while promoting local employment and economic growth.
Mendi Phase II 50MW/150MWh Battery Energy Storage Project, UK
Shanghai Electric recently signed the EPC contract for the Mendi Phase II battery energy storage project in central England, securing a key overseas order in the energy storage sector at the start of the year.
The project has an installed capacity of 49.9MW and an energy storage capacity of 149.7MWh. This contract marks a significant milestone in Shanghai Electric’s continued expansion within the UK’s high-end energy storage market and strengthens its foundation for broader participation in the European grid-scale storage sector.
Zimbabwe 2×150MW Coal-Fired Power Project
Shanghai Electric will supply two 150MW high-temperature, ultra-high-pressure, intermediate-reheat condensing turbine generator units, along with air-cooled generators and associated equipment.
The project is planned for six 150MW units in total, with Phase I comprising two units. Once operational, the project will provide stable and reliable electricity to support local mining operations and primary processing activities, contributing to Zimbabwe’s energy mix optimization and driving growth in the mining and industrial sectors.
PT Kayong Power Nusantara 7×380MW Supporting Project, Indonesia
For this project, Shanghai Electric will supply single-stage high-speed flue gas desulfurization (FGD) fans, marking the first overseas application of its high-end environmental protection fan products. The company has previously supplied high-pressure feedwater heaters and external steam coolers for the same project.
As a key supporting energy facility for Indonesia’s strategic aluminum industry chain project, the plant will ensure a reliable power supply for industrial operations, enhance regional energy security, stimulate local employment, and support high-quality industrial development in Indonesia.
The diverse portfolio of newly secured contracts—across coal-fired power upgrading, cogeneration, energy storage, and advanced environmental protection systems—demonstrates Shanghai Electric’s integrated industrial strengths and international competitiveness. These achievements reflect the company’s commitment to China’s “dual-carbon” goals and its dedication to high-quality development under the Belt and Road Initiative through the successful delivery of world-class engineering solutions.
