She said that female scientific and researcher staff have demonstrated their perseverance as the industry develops in Shanghai, who can “tame” machines and steels with their soft power. For example, the welding specialist Liu Xia, a National Model Worker, has made numerous improvements and breakthroughs in welding technologies in the past 27 years, tackling “bottleneck” problems and localizing many high-end technologies that used to be owned by the West, such as the high-end rotor welding technology. Cheng Yan and Liu Shuang, two female digital experts, are leaders in promoting the digital transformation of Shanghai Electric Group. In the past 2 years, they have made remarkable achievements in management digitalization, smart supply chain and digital factory, contributing to making the manufacturing industry digital, smart and internet-based.

Yang Hong shared her insights on “Her Strength. “The ‘Her’ here refers to not only women, but also the Communist Party of China who led us to the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Without the Party, China would never be so powerful and prosperous as it is today, nor people would be able to live a well-off life. CPC’s leadership is the ‘Her Strength’ to boost technological innovation and development in a real sense. ”

“Her Strength” forum, an event dedicated to women, was first held 2019 Shanghai Scientific Festival, and it comes to the third session this year. The forum themed “100 Years’ Scientific Achievements and Women’s Power in Innovation” invited female representatives from scientific, technological and innovative sectors in Shanghai to show their high sense of mission that “following the Party’s leadership, women embark on a new journey”.

Over 100 participants were present, including leaders of Shanghai Women’s Federation, the Party Committee of Shanghai Science and Technology Committee (SSTC), the Association of National March Eighth Red Flag Bearers of Shanghai and the SSTC women’s working committee, as well as representatives of related fields.
