Shanghai Electric Water Engineering Company (SWE) has been engaged in continuous technical innovation in core desalination technologies. In the past more than ten years, SWE devoted to the R&D and applications of seawater desalination and wastewater treatment technologies, and can provide users with personalized integrated water solutions under the EPC model. A variety of desalination technologies, including Multi-Effect Distillation (MED), Reverse Osmosis (RO), Nanofiltration (NF), Ion Exchange (IX), Electrodeionization (EDI), Carrier Gas Extraction (CGE) and salt separation crystallization, offer one-stop freshwater resource solutions for customers in multiple industries such as power, steel, petrochemicals and cement at home and abroad. Currently, the company's accumulated total engineering performance has reached 1.9 million tons per day. Among them, the total scale of MED thermal seawater desalination projects is 520,000 tons per day, accounting for over 60% of the domestic market share; the total scale of membrane-based projects is 1.14 million tons per day, placing it in the domestic first tier. According to statistics from the International Desalination Association (IDA), the company entered the top 10 global seawater desalination and water reuse project developers selected by IDA in 2018, ranked 7th globally in 2019, 9th globally in 2022-2023, and 11th globally in terms of accumulated contracted seawater desalination project scale from 2015 to 2024.
SWE focuses on R&D for seawater desalination and wastewater treatment technology innovation and engineering application. SWE has made a breakthrough in several key desalination technologies and gained many achievements in intellectual property rights through continuous technical accumulation and improvement. So far SWE has successfully completed and developed 8 professional computation software, 9 databases, 15 experimental platforms, 33 patents and 13 internal company standards.
