Two elevator cars, “R-Box” and “Shuttle Conveyor”, designed by Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator, won the 2021 iF Design Award in Germany. These were the fifth and sixth international product design awards obtained by Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator after its independently developed “full touch screen elevator control box ZCBE03-T810” won the Red Dot Design Award.

Compared with traditional elevator cars, these two award-winning models present different highlights. In addition to the visual dimension, the R-Box elevator car explores all human senses including “appearance, sound, touch and smell”, providing a comprehensive experience. Shuttle Conveyor successfully overcomes the disadvantages of traditional elevator cars such as the small space and poor ventilation, displays vivid scenes through the large HD OLED screen and interacts with the elevator system, making passengers feel like in time travel. In addition, the overhaul of the OLED screen can be performed within the car without the need for workers to enter the shaft, making it more convenient and safer.

The iF Design Award was established in 1953 and is held by iF Industrie Forum Design annually. It is regarded as one of the world’s four major design awards together with the Red Dot Design Award in Germany, International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in America and Good Design Award in Japan.
