Shanghai Electric recently announced to kick off its 2020 induction ceremony and training sessions next week. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, new employee training will be held both online and offline for the first time.

This year Shanghai Electric enrolls 720 graduates, basically the same with 2019.

Graduates with a master's degree or above are in the majority, a big highlight this year. Compared with previous campus recruitment programs, the proportion of master's and doctor's graduates hit a record 53.1%, for the first time higher than that of bachelor's graduates (42.4%). In particular, the number of returned students grew to 84, a pronounced increase from the previous year, and some are graduated from top universities in Europe and America.

The new employees are largely allocated to the key industries, with 184 and 152 in power generation and wind energy, again the top two receivers of graduates. A significant growth is also seen in new employees going to such subsidiaries of emerging industries as THVOW Technology and Shanghai Electric Digital Technology Co., Ltd. Meanwhile, Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group Co., Ltd., Shanghai Electric Power Transmission & Distribution Group, and Shanghai Highly (Group) Co., Ltd. maintain an addition of more than ten recruits. There are 308 employees (42.8%) admitted for R&D and design and 70 engaged in technology and process, which reflects Shanghai Electric’s determination to scale up R&D efforts.
