Shanghai Electric has independently developed a new-type digital rail transit system utilizing magnetic induction technologies to combine the large capacity of rail transit with the flexibility of conventional buses. By transforming and upgrading traditional industrial systems using digital and smart tools, Shanghai Electric promotes innovation in products, models and services for urban medium-capacity transit. The new-type medium-capacity transit system built by Shanghai Electric is light and agile, and employs digitalized rails to replace the steel traditionally used in rail transit scenarios. With elementary equipment like magnetic markers embedded within the rails, it ensures trains run on tracks precisely and in time with the scheduling system. It can “supplement, extend, connect and transit” regular rail transit systems in big cities, and functions as the major public transportation network or transit system in main areas for medium-sized and small cities. In addition, the special line can provide internal and external shuttle services for hubs like tourism sites and airports.

Shanghai Electric developed a modern rail transit operation and scheduling system with train control at its core. The system can fulfill a wide range of functions, like supervision, control and dispatch of running train, supervisory control of power and electrical equipment, passenger information distribution, broadcast, video-based monitoring, train operational status monitoring, and smart maintenance. It features redundant architecture with layered security mechanisms, open communication data interfaces, high integration and automatic interlocking capacity, and can combine train control and monitoring, as well as coordinate operation scheduling and maintenance management. While ensuring safe and efficient operation, it streamlines resource management and business planning into a uniform process to significantly reduce O&M labor and time costs. This also has the advantage of enhancing failure governance before train’s outcoming act, closed-loop tracking and experience sharing to greatly improve O&M services and boost stable, sound and sustainable development of the rail transit system.
