The one-month registration for the "Shanghai Electric Cup" Competition concluded last week, with 141 entries received, said the organizer.

Launched in middle July, the competition has drawn considerable attention from many teams engaged in smart industrial applications. With significant more applicants than expected, the organizer decided to extend the deadline, to allow in more teams. Preliminary statistics show that 141 entries cover such fields as big data, IoT, and smart O&M, of which 61 (40%+) focus on smart service and 56 (39.7%) on lean production.

Fierce competition will be seen in two divisions. Internally, 31 Shanghai Electric subsidiaries bring together 91 projects. The external division involves 50 works from 47 teams, which are from top colleges like Tsinghua University, Zhejiang University, and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and domestic tech leaders like Digitwin Technologies and PHIANS. Shanghai Electric offers a great platform for all industrial intelligence players to compete against each other, said the head of the PHIANS team. PHIANS will bring its best products to get a good place in the match.

This week, the jury will start reviewing and grading all the works received based on their commercial value, scope of application, promotion model, and technical solution. The shortlist for the next round will be announced with the preliminary grades.
