Project for“Solar-Storage”Smart Microgrid Integration in Dubai

Project information

Shanghai Electric has built a “Photovoltaic + Energy Storage” microgrid demonstration power station under intelligent and integrated control, on the site of the CSP-PV project Phase IV in Dubai. The system includes: a 400 KW PV power generation system, a 1 MWh battery energy storage system and a smart cloud platform. Shanghai Electric was responsible for the development of system integration technology, the detailed design of engineering automation, as well as the construction, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of the entire power station. The project has verified the reliability of Shanghai Electric's energy storage products, PV module cleaning robots, and smart cloud platforms under harsh environmental conditions including “high temperature and humidity, and strong wind and sand.”

In June 2021, the “solar-storage” integrated scientific research and demonstration project in Dubai completed its trial operational test on overall power station functions, marking the preliminary completion of the demonstration project. The operating data of the demonstration power station has been uploaded to Shanghai Electric's SEunicloud platform in real time for remote intelligent management.

There was much attention from overseas companies on account of the project’s progress. For example, the technical team from the world-renowned power developer, ACWA Power, visited the site for technical exchanges.

The “solar-storage” smart microgrid demonstration power station in Dubai is Shanghai Electric’s first overseas comprehensive research base for renewable energy. Through its international technology research and development network, Shanghai Electric hopes to bring its overseas new energy business to new heights.
