Shanghai Mitsubishi Elevator Co., Ltd. (“SMEC”) hosted a grand ceremony on 2 June 2011 to celebrate the despatch of its 300,000th elevator/escalator unit. This marked for SMEC hitting the 300,000-unit level in terms of accumulated production and sales volume for the first time since its establishment as being the joint venture of Shanghai Electric. This was also a new record in the history of China’s elevator manufacturing industry. Leveraging Mitsubishi’s advanced technologies and comprehensive service systems, SMEC was always the industrial leader in the world’s largest elevator production nation - China and also a pioneer in applying energy-saving technologies in its elevator products. The elevator manufacturing industry in China had gone through several production thresholds of delivering elevators on the level of 50,000 units, 100,000 units, 150,000 units and 300,000 units successively, SMEC broke all these records and became the record keeper.
SMEC had become the largest elevator manufacturer and distributor in China after 24-year development. It has been ranked No.1 in the industry in 18 consecutive years in key operating parameters. The Company had achieved annual sales volume and revenue in excess of 40,000 units and RMB10 billion respectively in 2010, enabling it to become the first member of the League of Elevator Manufacturing Enterprises with annual sales hitting RMB10 billion. It was also the World No.1 stand-alone factory with this largest income generated.
The “Model J” escalator, as the 300,000th despatch unit, SMEC had ever delivered, by adopting high-precision deceleration gear and noise-proof step chain sprocket as components. Together with the unique fine U-shape step guide rail and steering mechanism made by Mitsubishi, the escalator delivers a steady, comfortable yet quiet riding experience. Featuring with safe, energy-saving and environment-friendly attributes, Model J is a real low-carbon type escalator. The escalator will be delivered to China Green Land (Group) Co. Ltd. for use in a project located in Changxing, Shanghai.
