Large-sized crankshafts for water-borne vessels, developed and manufactured by Shanghai Electric, marks China’s entrance into the field of semi-built up crankshafts.

Semi-built up crankshafts can be used in two-stroke low speed marine diesel engines. The Company currently has capacity for building 40 units per annum. Production capability and technical standards have been confirmed by two of the outstanding diesel engine patent companies in the world – the Denmark-based Man B&W Diesel and the Swiss company W.NSD. Following completion of the second-stage crankshaft plant at the Lingang Production Base in 2006, an additional 200 units per annual capacity has been added. Ship-used crankshaft products from Shanghai Electric not only meet the demand of domestic users, but are also exported in large quantities to overseas markets.
